PITTSBURGH, Pa., November 19, 2007 - Applications for Student Government Board Committee Chair positions are available now. Students interested in becoming a committee chairperson may download the application online in PDF format on the SGB Website or pick them up at the front desk of the SGB office at 839 William Pitt Union. The deadline for all chair positions is 14 January 2008 at 5 p.m., with the exception of the Allocations application, which is due 26 November 2007 at 5 p.m. and only available in the SGB office.
The available chair positions are Academic Affairs, Allocations, Diversity, Elections, Environmental, Freshman Affairs, Governmental Relations, Judicial, Public Relations, and Traditions. The Allocations Committee is also looking for committee members.
The Committees are essential to the continued success of SGB in addressing issues important to the student body. SGB functions and thrives on the efforts of students who administrate a number of SGB programs.
ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.
The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
