PITTSBURGH, Pa., October 9, 2007 - The University of Pittsburgh Student Government Board is pleased to announce the addition of its newest Board Member, Erin Schaefer. Schaefer was selected by the current Board Members on 9 October 2007. She will be replacing former Board Member Joshua Carl on the Board, who resigned last month. Schaefer was selected by the Board by means of a majority vote after interviews conducted during the most recent Government Board Meeting. Schaefer, who has previously served as Governmental Relations Chair, will begin her work on the Board immediately. The Board looks forward to working with its newest member and expects Schaefer to be a great asset to SGB.
ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.
The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
