PITTSBURGH, Pa., October 1, 2007 - University of Pittsburgh Student Government Board Members recently spent three days at the conference of the American Student Government Association in Washington, D.C. Board Members met with federal lawmakers and hosted several discussions related to government board management.
The conference, which ran from 27 September to 30 September, gave SGB Members the opportunity to conduct dialogue with other student government bodies from across the country and shares ideas in regards to improving campus life. Board Members intend to bring back what they learned to the University of Pittsburgh campus in order to better improve the college experience for undergraduate students.
ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.
The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
