Student Government Board to Determine Newest Board Member at Meeting

September 27, 2007, 1:40 p.m.

PITTSBURGH, Pa., September 27, 2007 - The Student Government Board will be holding its weekly meeting on Tuesday 2 October, 2007 at 8:45 p.m. in 837 William Pitt Union. The nine candidates to replace former Board Member Joshua Carl will each be given time to present their respective goals and plans as a future Board Member. Students will then be given time to ask all of the candidates questions regarding their goals as Board Members. The Board will then vote to determine the newest Board Member, who will be chosen based off a majority of votes.

Board Member candidates include Academic Affairs Committee Chair Nila Devanath, Governmental Relations Committee Chair Erin Schaefer, and Public Relations Committee Chair Perry Servedio, as well as Corrie Berk, Lee Every, Cathy Park, Megan Rerko, Gary Sanderson, and Kevin Taylor.

ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.

The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
