Student Government Board looking for Elections Chair

PITTSBURGH, Pa., March 21, 2008 - The Student Government Board is currently looking for applicants for the position of Elections Chair. The Elections Chair is responsible for conducting a fair, honest, and efficient campus-wide election in accordance with the SGB constitution and the elections code, working to inform all of the candidates about the elections process, and helping to regulate campaign procedure. The election is an exciting and stressful time for the candidates, and the Elections Chair is responsible for making sure they can respond to any violations of the elections code. Other duties include arranging and moderating the presidential debate, as well handling the inauguration in the spring term.

Students interested in applying may pick up an application at the Student Government Board Office at 848 William Pitt Union or by visiting the SGB website. The application is due by 5 pm on Friday 28 March.

ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.

The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
