PITTSBURGH, Pa., January 10, 2008 - The Student Government is pleased to announce the inauguration of the 2008 Board Members. On Thursday, 10 January 2008 at 6:30 p.m., Sumter Link was sworn in as SGB President alongside Nila Devanath, Lacee Ecker, Ryan Haddad, Amanda Reed, Gary Sanderson, Perry Servedio, Francis Varner, and Ryan Very.
"It is an honor to be your newly elected president," Link said. "This is a wonderful university that provides excellent opportunities to all of its students. I proudly call myself a Pitt student, and I hope this pride will be shown throughout my term as Student Government Board President."
The Student Government Board wishes all past and present Board Members the best of luck in their future, wherever it may take them.
ABOUT STUDENT GOVERNMENT BOARD - The Student Government Board exists to provide undergraduate, non-CGS students with representation as a student voice to University administration. The SGB represents the needs, interests, and concerns of all Pitt students. Another important aspect of the SGB is allocation of the student activities fee, which provides money to over 350 student organizations at the University of Pittsburgh.
The board is comprised of one President and eight Board Members, all elected by the student body. The SGB also has ten standing committees who address various aspects of campus life, including diversity, freshman involvement, and governmental relations.
